Oh my goodness! I am going to my first knitting “conference!!!” I am soooo excited! Jered and I talked it over and decided that we could afford the $400 registration since Knittapalooza is a thirty minute drive from our place (i’ll just drive home and crash here every night)
I registered for the Latvian Wristers session, a Fair Isle session, an Aran session, I am sooooo stoked! It works out perfectly because its March 10th-13th which is the tail end of my Spring Break, how cool is that?! It totally makes up for the blah priest thing.
Time to go do some giddy dancing

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta… February 16, 2005
Randomness eh?
That’s what my day was about today. I woke up with some killer leg pains because I was smart enough to do about a quarter mile’s worth of walking lunges yesterday: not smart!
I could barely walk today, which is, of course, why I decided to walk to and from class rather than drive (about a mile total) so now my legs are out of commission. They’ve been put away for the evening, in fact, they are already pretty much in bed.
So much for trying to get sexier legs, they’re no good if you can’t walk on them!
I’ve been knitting Leo mostly this week, and a little bit on the man socks. I am a bit bored with my projects right now, mostly because they aren’t horribly interesting. I need to start something tricky, like some crazy estonian mittens or something, everyone seems to be knitting those these days, maybe i’ll give that a try. Or maybe I could just cast on for Rogue. I have will power, like no one you’ve ever met. Look at this box, it is still unopened.

I promised I wouldn’t open it until I finished Leo, and so far, so good! I almost broke down the other day when my dress fiasco happened, but I remained strong. Well, actually, I take that back, I wasn’t strong, I just got distracted…same thing, right?
Tomorrow night is the February Yorktown Knitting Meetup, not sure if anyone in this area who knits actually reads this blog, but just in case I forget, I’ll be able to read my blog and remember, assuming of course I remember to read my blog.
I can tell this semester is really getting underway because I’m starting to make no sense. Procrastination weighs heavily on my shoulders. I do not want to start any homework. Why can’t there be master’s degree in knitting?
Awwwww…. February 15, 2005
What a sweetie, check out Jered’s Blog
Hope everyone had a great valentine’s day!

No Knitting No Dress February 13, 2005
Ugh…I went for my dress fitting today and the dress that they ordered for me doesn’t fit! I am so bummed…so my dress had to be re-ordered and it won’t get here until May 10th. That would be no big deal if I was getting married in July or even June, but no, I am getting married May 22nd! It’s just a bit stressful.
I haven’t knit at all this weekend, I did a few rows on Leo tonight, but yesterday was a completely knitting free day. Maybe that jinxed me today at my fitting. Tonight my fingers started to pace a bit, so I did maybe 4 rows of Leo and then just stopped. We’ve been doing a ton of wedding related stuff recently and one of my maids of honor has been helping us organize. I do not know what i would do without her!
Jered and I are trying to find a guestbook somewhere that has places on each page where we could put a poloroid picture. Finding a nice custom guestbook is so difficult! We’re getting a poloroid and film for the guestbook so that people can take goofy pictures and post them on the page that they sign (so we’ll actually want to look back at our book
If anyone has any ideas on where to find decent guestbooks with little picture mounts, please let me know!
I feel like I’m becoming that freaking out frustrated bride that I swore I wouldn’t be. Maybe its because I spent today entering addresses into our guest list and fretting over my dress dilemma. Yeah, that makes sense. I think I have a right to be freaking out a little over the May 10th day…12 days before the wedding, and I still have to be fitted, WTF?!?!?!?!?!
Desperately Searching… February 10, 2005
I am pretty desperate. I’ve realized that I won’t have enough Magpie to finish my sweater, and I need at least 3-4 more skeins. Of course Magpie is now discontinued, so…is there anyone out there who has 3-4 skeins of Magpie in shade 684 dye lot 7D3?
Okay, now that I’ve got that out of the way, here is what the sweater looks like so far. I love it sooooo much and I absolutely have to finish it!

I only had to work three hours today so my day was pretty chill. I visited Jered at work and we went around and took pictures of him pretending to be a smoker. At one point he had a fake cigarette and was pretending to smoke and it was pretty obvious that he’s not a smoker because the cigarette was pointing almost straight to the sky, it was the strangest looking thing ever. The pictures were not for our own personal enjoyment, I don’t want you all thinking that we have some strange obsession that makes us want to take pictures doing things we don’t normally do, it was for some work related smoking cessation campaign that he’s working on.
My parents came over tonight and we had homemade vanilla pudding, it was really yummy. Here’s the recipe; its definitely worth the 20 minutes it takes to make it!
1/3 c. sugar
3 tbsp. corn starch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 cups milk (the fatter the better)
2 egg yolks
1 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract (use the real stuff, it makes a difference)
Whisk the sugar, corn starch and salt together in a small pot. Add about 1/4 cup of the milk to make a thin paste. Whisk in the remaining milk and egg yolks. Cook over low heat stirring constantly for about 15 minutes or until mixture starts to thicken. It takes at least 10 minutes before it starts to really thicken, so don’t get discouraged! Don’t let the mixture boil. Once it starts to thicken and become pudding -like in consistency remove it from the heat and add the vanilla and butter. Stir both of these in. Place the mixture in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Gently push the plastic wrap onto the surface of the pudding so that it won’t be able to form a skin. Seal the bowl with another layer of plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour. It is sooooo good!
And finally, just to make this post even more “melting pot” than it already is, here is my Leader Identity…my future doesn’t look too promising!
Spring Cleaning Already February 6, 2005
Jered and I spent the first half of our day cleaning the apartment, what a chore, but boy does it look better in here! I started a pot of chili this morning, so not only is the house clean, it smells good too.
I finally got around to taking some pictures, and I realized I had quite a few things to take pictures of. First, here is my delicious Magpie Yarn, pure indulgence.

I still feel a little guilty about buying another sweater’s worth of yarn, but I have been productive and I have used up some of my stash knitting things like this iPod sock that I finished a while back but neglected to mention in any posts.

And…I’ve got pictures of Clapotis! It’s funny how I get so excited when I finish a project that I forget to take pictures of it. Well, here she is worn in three ways. The pictures were taken when i was feeling very sick, so please pardon the “sick face.”

We got a gift card in the mail from Jered’s Aunt and Uncle as a belated Christmas present, so we headed on over to Target Friday night and bought ourselves a coffee maker. It has a timer and everything, so we have been waking up to fresh hot coffee all weekend. It’s amazing what the smell of coffee can do to help wake you up in the morning! I had to take a picture, what can I say, I was a little lens happy this morning

I realize that I now have three projects on the needles, Leo, the Knit-By-Numbers Pullover, and some man socks. So much for only working on one or two things at a time. Ha, I thought I could do it…at least I tried, right?!
Yarn Binge February 3, 2005
What a day! I went to work this morning decked in my Clapotis with a freshly cast on sock tucked away in my bag, not knowing that I would be spending any money today, much less money on yarn. But, there’s always a but…I left work a little early today and headed over to my LYS just to look. I spent the last half hour at work browsing new patterns for ideas on projects to start. I liked the idea of the knit by numbers raglan article that was on knitty and I started to think about yarn I would like to use to try and knit me up a sweater by numbers.
Well, said LYS happened to be having a bit of a sale. And boy did I ever find a treasure! Tucked away behind the heaps of froufrou eyelash yarn and the drab grey cotton was a bag of…*drumroll* neatly wound (yes, it was even balled!) Rowan Magpie in this gorgeous deep red. Over 1200 yards of it for only $60. Wow! So I walked out of the store and didn’t buy a thing, not one thing. I went and sat in my car, stared at my checkbook, did a little mental math, and called fiancee. I know why I’m marrying this guy, his advice: buy the yarn, what a deal, you’ll regret it if you don’t. Wow.
So I go back in the store, run over to the yarn (assuming of course that someone would have snapped it up as soon as I turned my back, luckily it was still there), and went straight to the counter and paid. I felt like an Atkinite buying pasta, ahhhhh, bliss!
I was quite pleased with myself, especially when the owner knowingly smiled at me and said, “Smart girl.” That’s always a good thing, right?
I promise I’ll post pictures soon, both of my new lovely Magpie and of finished Clapotis, almost done Leo Back, and freshly cast on Jered socks.
