I can tell I’m getting married in 3 weeks. I have totally neglected my blog. Why is it that when you are getting married, everyone and their brother’s mother’s uncle thinks that they can tell you exactly what you want and need? Am I not capable of figuring that out for myself? Between having my mother tell me that she wants to add another 6 people to the guest list 3 weeks before the wedding, and finding out that I really don’t have enough money to buy any flowers but hydrangeas (which are perfectly fine, its just not having any choice because we’re so poor kind of feels shitty!)
I just feel like this wedding isn’t about us anymore. If I can get my mom to stop adding people to the guest list I will be happy!
We have been working on our centerpieces and favors this weekend, and they do look quite nice. Right now we’ve basically decided that since we have little say over the ceremony we are going to make the most of the reception and personalize the heck out of it. We broke down and hired a DJ since the iPod thing was a little tacky, even for us. We’ve been trying to find songs that we absolutely must play and that black list of songs that absolutely cannot be played (e.g. Macarena, Electric Slide etc.) Our list is extensive and the black list looks like a Nashville lineup.
My boss is getting ready to have her baby. She is actually scheduled to have her right around the wedding date, so we’re not sure if she’ll be able to come. I’d say having a baby is a fairly decent excuse…! I went over to her place for a meeting this afternoon and got to see her nursery; it is soooooo cute! They did a Classic Pooh theme and it looks like something from a magazine. That little girl is going to be one stylin’ kid, too. She has more outfits than I think I’ve owned in the last 10 years! It is great to see how excited they are, they are both going to make really great parents. Thinking about other people’s big events seems to make me not think about the fact that we’re getting married in three weeks. Holy. Frickin. Cow.

Any tips on how to survive this maddening craziness and get through two group projects and presentations, one big ass paper and a portfolio (all within the next 10 days)??? Any brilliant suggestions will be rewarded.

Where its at? The pictures are all here! First, I owe my Secret Pal a picture, since I have been a major slacker and have not been able to post any pics of last month’s surprise! Just today I started a lovely pair of socks with the Plaisance she sent me, but before I say anymore, here is the picture of all of the fabulous things I received (minus the l’Occitane soaps and some of the candies which I just couldn’t keep my hands off of) :)

Thanks again secret pal!

Since my last post with pictures I have actually been quite the productive knitter. I finished this baby sweater for my boss, who is due a week after our wedding and a day after my birthday. This is her first baby and its going to be a girl, how exciting!
Here she is, Daisy from Knitty knit in some German merino wool my Oma sent me for Christmas.
Her baby shower is next week, so I have until then to sew on three little buttons at the top. I also think I’m going to knit a mini version of this sweater to put on a little hanger as decoration for the gift bag. If I have time, of course :)

About a month ago I finished Tempting, and I think it turned out quite lovely. I don’t like the purple ribbon because it reminds me a little too much of the Red Hat Club and i’m a little young for that yet. Purple was the only ribbon we had in the house, so I had to use it just so I could call her finished. She looks great on too, I just forgot to take a picture of that!

Our cats have been enjoying the spring-ish weather. They both have shed their winter coats and are hoping that the temps don’t dip below 40 again like they did this past week! Here they both are bird watching:

And here is Jinx in her new Kitty Bed. She used the old teeny tiny one so much that I just had to make her a new one. It is big enough to fit all of her in it, and she loves it even more than the little one. She likes to flip it over and sleep on it upside down for some reason, but hey, whatever makes her happy.

And finally, what I’m working on now. I finished my booga bag, I just have to attach the handles, I don’t have a picture of the finished bag as it is still over at my mom’s blocking, but here is a pic from the beginning, you can see the color scheme, at least. Its made of some leftover Rowan and a skein of Manos that I had laying around. It shrunk, a lot. Holy cow, but it turned out really cute.

I also am working on a pair of socks pour moi with the Phildar Plaisance that my KRSP sent me. I will try to get a few pictures before Jered takes the camera back to work! And hopefully I will get a few pictures of a finished Leo back and front soon. I hope.

I am having a hard time adjusting to the time change. I love getting out of class and being able to drive home before the sun goes down, but getting up has been so hard! Luckily, it is light out when the alarm goes off at 6:20, but just barely.
This week has started off well enough. Yesterday I had a multiple choice exam, which i wasn’t really used to. The last time I took a multiple choice exam was probably about a year ago. I’m so used to writing essays that I almost forgot how to study for one!

Leo is now shaping up, literally. I have reached the arm hole shaping and am now working my way up toward the neck, soon enough I will be on the sleeves thank God!
It feels like I have been working on this sweater for years. Leo is really the only thing I am working on right now. I’ve all but given up on the socks that I have on my needles, I just haven’t had any time to knit other than Leo. With classwork snowballing into an avalanche recently and the wedding coming up in a little over 6 weeks (geesh!) when is there time to cast on a new project? I am hoping this will be remedied toward the end of the semester. Or the next time I get a bit of a breather.

Jered promised he would bring home the camera from work before the end of this week, and when he does I will have tons of pictures to post. The goodies from my Secret Pal, Tempting, Michelle’s baby sweater…and maybe by then Leo?! We shall see.

The weather today was just lurvly…tomorrow it is supposed to be nearly 80 degrees. Gotta pull out my Birkenstocks :)
